(Blog 32) Plans for Belle’s Nook

(Continued from our last post…)

“Spyder, I had no idea. After all that time we spent together in college, why didn’t you tell me that story?” Calisto questioned trying not to come across in a blaming tone.

Spyder nodded. “Belle changed everything for Pip and me. She’s the reason I went into detective work. She’s the reason for my whole career as an investigator. By the time you and I had become friends, years had passed and I had dealt with what happened, or so I thought. College and our friendship was a start of a new life for me and I didn’t want to be the dragon who couldn’t let go of the past.”

“Well it’s one thing to forget the past and it’s another to deny the parts of your life that made you who you are. I understand it must have been hard to navigate how to handle that part of your life.” She responded with profound tact in classic Calisto fashion.

Spyder continued to explain that he wanted Belle’s Nook to be more than a co-working space and that he envisions a more artistic space with the opportunity to host creative classes for young reptiles after school.

The mention of art triggered Calisto to looked sternly at Spyder as though he was signing her up for a root canal. “Uh Spyder, that’s beautiful and all. But are you really planning to teach art classes? I’m not an art teacher. Please tell me you’re not thinking I can do that. My idea of a lesson plan is ‘don’t set anything on fire.’”

Lima gave a snorted laugh. “And I’ll be back in school soon. My time’s gonna shrink down to much less. I’d actually love to teach art classes, but I don’t think can plan for something like that my senior year.”

Spyder’s shoulders dropped a little. “I know we’ll have to hire someone to do it. Maybe it could start as a part-time thing. I just want to make the space beautiful and inviting. I’ll handle the logistics.”

With that, a grumbly, commanding, near screaming voice echoed from outside. “–No, no, that’s not acceptable. That’s a code violation if I’ve ever seen one.”

Spyder stopped talking.

Calisto’s ears perked up. “Oh no.”

The three dragons looked at each other and in unison said, “Perrie Hauteur.”
