Meet Blusha Azure
Blusha Azure is the antagonist we love to hate and she earns every bit of that title. She abandons Pip at the exact moment he needs her most. After Baby Belle’s death, when he is still trying to process what happened, she checks out completely.
Manipulation is her native language. Control is the title of her playbook. She twists Pip’s heroic attempt to save Baby Belle into a narrative that places blame on him and sympathy on herself. In public, she cries on command, playing the part of the fragile young widow doing her best to raise an energetic son despite her overwhelming grief. In private, she keeps Pip trapped in a cold emotional maze, a world where nothing he does is enough.
The truth is, Blusha has been hiding a past that ties two characters together in a way she cannot afford anyone to discover. For her, the Baby Belle incident came dangerously close to cracking that polished exterior. Instead of facing the fallout, she fled Scalesville, leaving Pip to pack up his life and live in his aunt’s basement. Two decades passed before Blusha resurfaces, pounding on Pip’s door in a fury over a bill from a video game company with her name on it. In her frenzy, she said things she didn’t mean to say. Things that did not add up and left Pip replaying her words, unable to ignore the fractures in the story he grew up believing.
Did he misunderstand the past, or has it all been a lie? And if Blusha’s secrets finally come to light, what will it mean for the dragons of Scalesville who have no idea how deceptive she really is?
