Meet Hecubum

Hecubum is an older, purple dragon who is the resident Webster at the Scalesville Community Council. He is loyal to his job having been a part of the council for over 25 years. He enjoys having a front row seat to the latest news stories in the town and doesn’t plan on leaving anytime soon. He is the go-to dragon and prides himself for the unique first-hand knowledge he carries about the history and families in town. He knows a LOT of reptiles but you might pass over his aged grumbly exterior over for louder, attention seeking personalities. Hecubum is happy to be the guy that can pull some strings behind the scenes and he exhibits a pride for Scalevilles that many younger residents are unable to appreciate.

Hecubum was the Webster that covered the story when Pip and Spyder discovered Baby Belle. His sense of responsibility drives him to dig deeper than most and connect on a personal level with the cases he works on, even it means he invests too much of himself and abandons his own well being.

Hecubum commits himself to the greater good and treats everyone like family. Having only one grown daughter and being a widower, he spends a great deal of time at work covered up in piles of papers, writing articles for the Scalesville Time while sipping on his favorite herbal tea. Hecubum has a secret connection to another one of the characters that is hidden even to himself.

When Pip and Spyder were fourteen years old, there was rumors of a missing child dragon in their countryside that was believed to have been eaten by a mysterious creature. She had been missing for weeks and her parents were beginning to lose hope that they would find her alive. While fishing for an early dinner with Spyder one afternoon in October, Pip stumbled upon bloody scales along the banks of the creek in the forest and, without a second thought, decided to follow the trail.

Spyder, knowing how Pip’s curiosity often led him into trouble, reluctantly followed, hoping to keep his impulsive friend safe. They followed a trail of more bloody scales into an unexplored area of the forest and eventually to an abandoned cave, where they found the child dragon, hurt, weak from starvation, but alive! Pip’s instinct to help and take risks paid off that day and the experience elevated his and Spyder’s friendship to a brotherhood.
