…With Pip and Ashley having joined the team, Wing Tails Sticker Studio was ready for their Meet and Greet housewarming event. Pip worked double shifts passing out flyers, meeting other business owners and residents in Scalesville to stir up hype for the event. Ashley added the finishing touch to the full wall mural for Belle’s Nook and Calisto and Lima teamed up to create more fun sticker designs and branded swag. Syder’s heart beamed with joy although he hadn’t made a dime yet for the business. The dream was no longer his alone. It was theirs, stitched together by friendship and a shared belief in something bigger than themselves.

The last few days were ironically quiet for what should have been the most stressful week yet. Surprisingly there had been no visits from Pierre Hauteur and the team wasn’t in any hurry to invite trouble. Wing Tails Sticker Studio was more than ready for the event, they were ready for Opening Day - pending an approved fire permit.

(Continued from our last post…)

The late afternoon sun spilled through the front windows, washing the shop in a soft gradient of violet, amber, and rose. Ashley’s mural shimmered in the glow sending colors to dance across the front counter as though the studio had been captured in high definition. It was a picture-perfect moment, the calm before the doors opened, as the air held anticipation.

Spirits were at an all time high. Spyder, Pip, Calisto, Lima, and Ashley were dressed to impress. Spyder wore his gentledragon’s top hat and gold monocle, Calisto’s jeweled horns were gleaming after her salon visit, and Lima clutched her brand-new water bottle and matching purse, a thoughtful gift from her mom for both the event and her senior year at Scalesville High.

“Ooh shiny! You kids these days are always thirsty aren’t y’all? I don’t understand the whole water bottle craze. But hey, we make stickers, so I’m here for it!” Calisto said in a playful tone.

“I actually AM pretty thirsty alot, and I can’t wait to cover it up with all of the fun designs we’ll make.” Lima said proudly.

“What are y’all talking about?” Spyder interjected just to keep his nerves in check while the time passed. “I’m ready for guests to start coming in. How many watering containers do you need, Lima? I see you accessorized with your purse.”

Calisto was still studying Lima’s water bottle half convincing herself that she needed one, “Look, she’s got a vintage sticker already on it! 2005! How did you get that one? So cool!”

“Mom gave it to me. Lima said with her eyes sparkling and a big smile on her face.” She had some tucked away from when she was a senior running for homecoming queen. She was so excited to give them to me seeing that I work here now with you all.”

“Your mom…” Those two words carried the weight of two hundred. Spyder’s chest tightened and the anticipation of the event was momentarily forgotten. “Excuse me,” he muttered and retreated toward the back.

“What. Just. Happened?” Calisto mouthed quietly as she and Lima looked at each other puzzled.
